On January 23rd search giant released a Featured Snippet algorithm update and Broad Core algorithm update. Both changes effect websites visibility and SERP ranking. The first update changes the way for websites that appear in a featured snippet show in organic search results. If page won and appears in a featured snippet, that same web page will no longer also appear as an organic search result. The change addresses the situation when such pages showed on the result pages twice and aimed to present more relevant information. This small tuning might have a big shift in keywords position results and visibility ranking as currently most position tracking tools do not count featured snipped as position number one. Meaning that such keywords might moved to a 50+ or 100+ positions. For search engine optimization campaigns when hundreds or thousands of keywords are analyzed the fluctuation might be significant.
The second Brad Core algorithm update focused on improving the search quality by giving users better search results. There is no need to make special apartments to adapt to it, but to focus on creating an original and high quality content.
